About Colleen

Originally from New England, Colleen moved to the mid-Atlantic region more than 20 years ago and has been proud to call Washington, D.C., home for more than 15 years. She and her husband met in D.C. and are thrilled to be raising their family in our wonderful neighborhood.

Colleen has worked as a human rights attorney and advocate for more than 15 years, fighting for fundamental protections for indigenous populations and ethnic, racial, and religious minorities; human rights defenders; members of the press; and political dissidents. During undergraduate and law school, she launched and led two Amnesty International chapters, through which she helped to educate the public about human rights laws and norms and pressured governments to cease engaging in human rights abuses. She also served as a fellow for her law school’s criminal defense legal clinic, and has volunteered with multiple homeless service and prevention organizations, including the Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless.

Colleen brings to this ANC role a commitment to equity, justice, and fairness for all Washingtonians, and the tenacity and willingness to put in the work required to advocate effectively on behalf of our community.
